Update workbooks links witout opening the workbooks

Hi There

I was wondering if was possible to update workbooks links ,that is linked to another workbook to retrieve certain information, without opening the workbook ?

to explain the situation:

there is workbook A ( time sheet ) and workbook B (project list ) , workbook A is retrieving information from workbook B , so when workbook B is updated and Workbook A is opened in excel the links / information is updated.
but workbook A cant be open in excel because PC doesn't have excel and is opening it through Onedrive account online, and Onedrive online doesn't support links at current time.
solution will be is for me to open workbook A with excel from my side through excel and update it save it and close, but another issue is that there are multiple workbook A's and to open update each one wont be practical, so is there a way to update multiple workbooks without opening each one?
Any help would be appreciated

I’m not sure about refreshing links without opening the workbook.

However, you can read information from closed workbooks. The link here shows several different methods of accomplishing this.

You could also turn screen updating off then open and make changes then close the workbook and turn screen updating back on.

@dominicb. I had a look at the link, thanks! But not what looking for. Don't nesaseraly want retrieve information I'm just looking for way for the information to update in workbook A so that the person opening it in OneDrive excell will have the most updated information on his workbook A which is retrieve from workbook B from my side.
