Dynamic generation icon groups in ribbon 2007~

Hello,

I am migrating several excel-based tools from xl2003 to xl2007 and I am facing some issues with toolbars
all the research I have done so far with the ribbon end up with an xml file that must be imported, often through add-ins and other manual means.
Is there any way to generate icons and groups by code?

I am interested in documentation of all the parameters attachable to controls of a given group in a tab.
is there any resource that offers this information in an understandable way?

I need to see how it works internally to make it work by code so I can describe the contents of a toolbar in a table for instance. This makes toolbar maintenance a breeze.

Care to explain how you did it, if not the standard way via xml?

Well, we generate the XML file from a table and from there we do the usal process of importing the XML file into the customUI folder, modify RELS etc etc.
We do not explore all the possibilities of the ribbon, but enough for us --

I have used similar half and half approach to automate ribbon creation at design stage.
