error 429 ActiveX Component can't create an object - only when scheduled

    Hello

I have a piece of VBA that pulls together data from various sources & formats them into a daily report & mails it out before I come in each morning. It's been running fine on my old PC (Windows 7 Pro, 32 bit), Office 2010 32 bit for a few months but I'm having problems with it on my new PC (64-bit Windows 7 Pro, Office 2010 32-bit).

The spreadsheet works fine if I open & run it interactively. When I run it as a scheduled task, though, I get 'error 429 ActiveX Component can't create an object'. This is at the point where it would be creating the email. Outlook is already open.

It seems like it must be a rights issue, but I'm running it with highest privileges and only when logged in. The machine never sleeps.

It's driving me mad, now. Has anyone got any ideas?

    thanks

    Mark

May be linked to the Microsoft Fix from December 2014 which affected ActiveX Controls <<< Google this

Thanks, but that's not it. Just ran the 'Fix-It' to remove the rogue files & retried, same problem.

Not sure how reliable the Fix-it is. Try manually navigating to the folders listed and checking for the .exd files and deleting them. You need to ensure that Excel is closed at the time. If I'm honest, I had problems locating the files initially and I just deleted the entire contents of the %Temp% directory. I let it go to the recycle bin just in case there were any issues, but there weren't.

I admit to being sceptical, but deleting the files manually may have done the trick - I've certainly just run the scheduled task manually and it worked. Just got to wait until morning to see if it carries on working in my absence...

    Thanks for your help!

    Shame on you!

It's tricky because the files do get recreated. The difference being that they are the "correct" ones.

Good luck in the morning. Let us know how you get on.

Success! The mails were sent out correctly this morning. Many thanks for your help, and shame on MS for producing a 'Fix-It' that fails to do something as simple as deleting a few files.
