    New to creating forms

    Hi all,

I'm really new to VBA - pretty much teaching myself. I'm really looking for basic information as I am having a lot of trouble with coding and understanding VBA terminology. I'm trying to create a form that would simplify data entry for our clients, and populates the content of that form to a worksheet - which would end up having many columns. Ultimately we would have one workbook, one worksheet would have a form, and the second worksheet 0 the data. Are there any templates available with the requested type of form that I can work with? I really just need to get an idea of how to code the command buttons to give me the output I'm looking for. I'm attaching what I have so far - it is in its early stages and isn't really giving me what I need: test.xlsm

    Thanks,
    Dana

Hi dandan and welcome to the forum,

Did you know that Excel already has a form tool built into it? See:
    http://spreadsheets.about.com/od/dat..._data_form.htm
It looks a lot like what you need.

The Form... tool is old and not already on the set of Icons but you can add it to the Quick Access Toolbar using these instructions.
    http://spreadsheets.about.com/od/dat...y-form-hub.htm

The reason I suggest using the existing tool is that VBA isn't for the weak of heart. It normally raises blood pressure for all new users.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

    Hi Marvin,

Thank you for that. I actually do know, but the form I'm creating has too many fields, and some of the fields I would to specify that only strings, numeric values, or dates allowed.

    Hi dan,

    has too many fields
There is already a free product that deals with this problem at:
    http://spreadsheetpage.com/index.php/dataform/home

I know you really want to build your own data entry userform, even if I can't talk you out of it.

Chandoo has a pretty good site to deal with what you are wanting at http://chandoo.org/wp/excel-vba/user-forms/
and follow the links on the above page for more in depth examples.
