Grabbing multiple information from columns from multiple spreadsheets

    Hi All,

I have just been given a big project involving Macros, VBA in Excel.

I work for a travel company which has numerous cashbooks in many different resorts, each completed on a weekly basis and submitted to a folder on my network.

Each week the information has to be extracted from the individual cashbooks (by myself - very tedious!) onto a master cashbook which details the spending for the entire season.

The aim is to run a macro or VBA script on the master spreadsheet once a week and quickly grab all this information from the individual cashbooks automatically.

I suppose my question is what are the best resources / tutorials for me to achieve this, and whether you think this is something achievable for someone new to Macros / VBA (I do pick up software very quickly however).

I know it is a bit vague for the minute, but I am sure I will return with some more questions very soon!

    Many Thanks

    Mickey

What you need is certainly do-able with code, but a lot more information is needed to provide any code. I would suggest, from your master workbook, recording a macro that would step through the process of opening one of your cashbooks and copying the data where you want it. Plan or practice your steps ahead of time so you're not thrashing around. This would give you basic code for processing that cashbook, but wouldn't really be usable for generic processing of all of them. However, if you would provide that code to the forum, it would give a better idea of what you're trying to do, and could be modified from there.
