    Search and reveal?

For the attached tool matrix, how can I program it so that when I select an individual tool in a data validation list, only columns with information, and the header cell are visible? In the file the cells that are shaded yellow would be screened out (whole column not visible) based on consistent words used, such as "Input" and "Factor" in row 2.

The "Tool Summary" tab illustrates what I am trying to achieve. By selecting something from the list, Excel would immediate search for occupied cells on the same row, say row 42. If a cell on row 42 is occupied (say G42) it would then search above in the same column (G) in row 2. If cell G2 doesn't have "Input" or "Factor" then cell G1 and G42 are revealed. Excel would search each cell on row 42 until it came to the end of the defined table.

The actual table is several hundred columns and a few hundred rows.

I can use another form for the list other than Data Validation if it helps. I'm reasonably comfortable with combo boxes, etc.

    Thanks for your help. David
