    Website Block

Hello - I hope all is well. I need a little help please.

I have VBA code that imports data from a public website. Recently, the website keeps blocking my access for two days and then automatically opens.

This happened ever since I got a new internet provider. Only at home the website blocks, when I leave the house, I can run the program with no problems.

Is there a way to get around this?

    Thank You,

Most likely, since it works fine elsewhere, this is an issue with the settings from your new ISP, your router (if you have one) or something changed in your firewall settings or internet web browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome etc.)on the computer you are having the problem with. If its the same computer you are using at home and away from home, I would check your router settings first then with your ISP.

You don't have to add Rep if I have helped you out (but it would be nice), but please mark the thread as SOLVED if your issue is resolved.

    Re: Website Block

Hello - I appreciate your prompt response.

I am actually using the same computer. It's my laptop that I carry around.

As I mentioned, the program runs at first and then the site blocks it. When I try to access the site from any browser, it says "This IP has been automatically blocked"

This message continues for two days and then it clears.

What do you suggest I need to do with my router or my ISP?

    Thanks

Ah, the problem is with the site you are going to. For whatever reason it is blocking IP address, which is provided by your ISP. The reason it isn't blocked when you leave the house, is because you are accessing the internet through a different router/ISP therefore it is using a totally different IP address. Try to contact the site you are going to find out why it is blocking your IP address or, ask your ISP why a site would block your IP address. Something with the IP address that your ISP is providing is causing you to be blocked.

Hello - The site would not give me a reason, but as I mentioned, I run a program that imports data from this site and takes hours to get all I need.

I have been running this for two years, I only starting having this problem when I connect to my home internet.

I dont know how to approach this problem. Is there a way to mask my IP from the site or something?

    Thanks

There is a way to mask your IP using 3rd party software, but, it's not a guarantee that it will work.

Is the site you are going to a company site? Meaning, is it a site that is used/monitored by the company you work for? If it is, you may have to get with your IT people so they can allow access from your IP address.

    Re: Website Block

I cant recommend one because I have never used or tested one nor do I know anyone (personally) that has used one.

*Edit: The above statement is false, I have used one, but it was many, many years ago, it was called Zone Alarm.
