Using WildCard in MS Query Parameter - 32 bit vs 64 bit

I have a written a "report" for users where one of the parameters has wildcards...through a formula...works fine on the machine I wrote it. 32bit OS and 32bit Excel
It doesnt not work on 64bit OS and 32 bit Excel. It is only related to the parameter with the wildcard. It does not error within Excel but when you go to the query it will give a syntax error.

Is there a work around...I have never seen this...I am at a client consulting...Thanks

I have new information. while I was away on vacation...I got a new box...I now have the same 64 bit OS and 32 bit office as users...it still works fine for me. My next thought was maybe different ODBC SQL driver...
