Excel connect with Application

Hi Friends,

Generally I want to know how to connect excel with other applications e.g.SAP FICO or Oracle 11i etc.

Is that any special permission required for that?

For Oracle, I guess you need to connect using ODBC Drivers. You can even do it with ADO

I'm not sure what you're asking:

• Do you want to query a database server?
• Or do you want to control another application?

In the first case, as NeedForExcel says, you need an ODBC (usually) driver. In the second, the application needs to support Ole Automation (unless you're feeling particularly masochistic)

Usually, databases are visible from the network. Whether you can access them would be determined by the administrator of the specific database.
