I'm not seeing any of the above data in column K. Perhaps column H, but it's different than above also. And what would it look like if two regions were combined?

sorry to confuse you , in column 'K" we have sytem name situated in different region so what i am looking to do is to categorize theses as per region

in 'K ' it is as below
ntcs-ddndch701a,ntcs-ddndch701b,ntcs-ddndch702a,ntcs-ddndch702b-----------------contains ntcs which below to "America region "
hk1p-ddnmcva14a,hk1p-ddnmcva14b,sg1p-ddnmcva14a,sg1p-ddnmcva14b--------------contains HK which belong to " ASIA region "
dtc-ddnmcva14a -------------------contains DTC which belong to " EMEA region
hk1p-ddnmcva14a,dtcp-ddnmcva14b,sg1p-ddnmcva14a,sg1p-ddnmcva14b, NJ2-ddnmcva1-----------this contains all region which will belong to " Global"

Re: Inserting column and then categorising

Here's my interpretation of what I see above:

The data in column K contains comma-separated values. The first two letters of each value can be used to determine the region. If all the regions in the cell are the same, then that is the region. If there are different regions, it's Global. If there are no regions, then it's Release.

Based on that, put this in a code module:

Then, in a column of your choice, put a "Region" heading in row one. In row two, put the formula
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.
and drag it down. You can then filter, sort, or whatever, based on the Region column. You can adjust the Select Case region values any time you want.

Your calculations are set to Manual. Switch them to Automatic (Formula tab - Calculation options).
