Is there a way to disable pasting formulas from other workbooks?

    Hello!

I have a situation in which it would be beneficial to disable pasting formulas that originated from a different workbook. For example, I have WB1, you have WB2. I would like copy/paste to work as it normally does with my WB1, but if I copied something from WB2, I would not be allowed to paste it to WB1. Is this possible? I'm fine with pasting values, formats, etc., just not formulas.

Before you paste, RIGHT CLICK and select Values Only - you will see an icon with a clipboard with 123 on it.

If you want the formatting to copy, copy as normal, then do the values only copy over the top.

    Have I oversimplified your inquiry?

I hope this helps, please let me know!

    Regards,

    David

    Hi David,

I am familiar with that method. Is there a way for be to disable (entirely) the pasting of formulas? Like make it so that a user simply cannot paste a formula? This can be with vba if needed (and it likely will be). I was thinking something like the following, but it hasn't worked:

    Hello bgreeson,

When you are pasting any Code, then please use Code Tags.

Your post does not comply with Rule 3 of our Forum RULES. Use code tags around code.

    Posting code between
Please Login or Register to view this content.
tags makes your code much easier to read and copy for testing, it also maintains VBA formatting.

Highlight your code and click the # icon at the top of your post window. More information about these and other tags can be found here

    Thank you,

    Regards.
