Error 1004: PivotTable field name is not valid

Hi everyone, I'm running into the titular error when the program reaches the pivot table creation at the bottom of the code. I am opening a tab delimited file and need to have the program select all data on the sheet for the pivot (it will be running files of varying row lengths). Any advice?

    Thanks!
    Philip

dont know how your data is setup but

sheet1 is very common...if you try to add a sheet that is when there is one already named sheet1...it will 1004

now the pivot table you area trying to add...is it going to be on the new sheet or the sheet where the data resides? if its where the data resides why are you adding a new sheet?

    for the pivot itself
i suggest you set a rng for the sourcedata to ensure you capture the right region

also dont know how your data is setup but every column (in rng) must have a header

Thanks for the help guys! I'm feeling a bit dumb because it turned out to be some stray data in one line out of 120,000. All worked out though.

    Thanks,
    Philip
