open or download the workbook from the internet

Hi All,

I want to open or download the workbook from the internet. but the path is too long so I can't use workbooks.open to open the file. I planned to download the workbook using IE object. but I wonder if I can directly open the workbook. Many Thanks.

the path of the WB:

I currently type the path to A1. and use the following code to download.

I guess I encounter a problem on this code.
I am not sure. but it seem that after I run this code. When I click a link which is a xls file in the webpage. IE don't pop up a box to ask me to choose open or save as.
instead it directly open the file with the excel.

If that's true, Can I add more code to enable the prompt for open or save option?
I already edit regedit to enable the pop up.

I don't have this problem. I don't see where it can alter your settings for IE. Do I understand correctly that you think it changes your settings and when you click some other link it starts to download, instead of asking?

sorry, I found it is not due to the code.
but i still don't know why my setting changed.
yes, I found after i click the link. computer will directly use excel to open the file instead of popup a window and ask me open or save.
