Problem with creating Formula to copy/paste over cell with certain text

HI

I need help wish what I think will be pretty basic:

Formula should do this:

IF Sheet1 (anywhere on) A1:A900 = text "GWD123" copy and paste from Sheet2 the text from Sheet2 cell A1

What I am trying to do it get a sheet with loads of codes (GWD123) for example to replace with the finance code which corresponds to GWD123.

I think I could get away with just a simple.... If any cell sheet1 A1:Z500 contains exact text "GPINR-36" Then replace with text from cell sheet2 A1
