i record the macro but it doesn't work....

i'm trying to record a macro with the steps below...of course I record all the steps correctly but I don't understand why the macro doesn't work, and it doesn't get saved... I tried all the tutorials online, followed the instructions, nada... so I'm not uploading the txt file on which the macro has to be recorded to, with the steps below. I'd need as a reply a file excel within which the macro has been saved, this is the most important step.

Open the .txt file in Excel,
1. When file is opened in Excel choose Data > Text to Colums, make sure you use Delimited and only check the Space box > Make sure you uncheck the Treat consecutive delimiters as one box
2. Add a column in front of Depth (E)
3. Delete the Reach_Alt and DCC Columns.(g and J)
4. In column J the formula =abs(I2) ….copy this down the rest of your data set (this gives you the absolute value of the VRT)
5. Now in column F (the blank column you created in front of your depth column earlier) enter this formula =abs(H2-J2) (this subtracts the ROV_Alt from the absolute VRT).
6. delete columns H, I and J
7. copy the entire column F and paste values to E, and rename it Depth ( in the header)

thanks for any input and kind help!

This sounds like a homework assignment?
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
