Tricky Question based on logic

Hi Gurus and Experts,

Currently, i am working on one tricky question.

Question is like this
'N' no. of boys stand in a circle. Let's name them 1 to 'N'.
No.1 kick the boy next to him ( no. 2) with shoe and gives the shoe to the following boy (no. 3). All of them continue to do the same thing around the circle, round and round, until only 1 boy survives.

Which number survives in the last?

i am trying to solve this question using VBA.

Any suggestion, how to solve this question.

Many members search our previous posts, and thread titles play a big part of the search. I doubt anybody would do a search based on your title?
