Cell Will Not Keep It Formatting

Further to a previous post, Im adding two paragraphs of text to a cell. I only want the first two words "Product Description" to show, unless the cell is clicked and then you see all the text

I have managed to do this by fixing the "Height" of the row and removing "Text Wrap"

This works and when you click the cell the text reads across the page.

However, if you click the cell a second or further times the text flows downwards in the column instead of across almost like the formatting only works once

    Many kind thanks

Re: Cell Will Not Keep It Formatting

Hi. Its a slightly different question as I have now managed to get the text into one box, with just two words showing.

The issue now is when I click the box a first time it does exactly what I want and all the text flows across the page

However, when I click the box a second time, the text flows down the column
    And loses the original formatting

Re: Cell Will Not Keep It Formatting

Hi I have just saved the sheet Im using. I had to delete all the information apart from two lines and add in dummy text.
I need the cells with Description and Product Information to act like the Luxury Christmas "Description"
I formatted the Description & Product Information cells exactly the same way and when I clicked them the FIRST TIME, The text on all the cells flowed across the page. But when I clicked the cells the second time only one of the cells holds the formatting and reads across the page. As you see the other three cells, now the text flows down the column

Re: Cell Will Not Keep It Formatting

It just because D6 cell is Wrap and D7 is not. If you want D6 cell should look like D7 cell when press "F2" edit mode then you just need to press ALT->H->W on D6 cell.

    Hope this will help you

Re: Cell Will Not Keep It Formatting

Select the whole column or range where description is written. After selecting you have to click wrap text ( For wrap text you have to go on excel navigation Home then Wrap text) its short cut is press ATL then H and the last W. By doing this way all the description cells will arrange in one format.

Hope now it will help you.

Re: Cell Will Not Keep It Formatting

Hi It still only keeps the format for one click of the cell. The second time you click the cell the text flows down the column

Could this be an Excel for Mac issue? I'm not seeing what you are seeing in Excel 2016 on this PC. Do you have screenshots that show what is happening for you?

Hi Yes maybe a Mac issue? but is there a way around it please? It holds the formatting once. If I click another cell and go back to it the cell flows like the jpg attached

Re: Cell Will Not Keep It Formatting

I can't help as I don't have a Mac, except to say that on this PC, clicking on the cell only shows its contents in the formula bar, not as you show in your screenshot, whether text wrap is on or off.
