Search, check and highlight in List box

    Hi All,

OK so sort of a 'advanced newbie' when it comes to macros and not sure if im pushing the boat too much but lets see what the feedback is:

    Back ground

I have a control button on a user form that when pressed both populates a list box and opens hyperlink to a file location (not the actual file just the link)
This gives my employees a one click access to were their work is. (The user can then open the file, edit and close)
The list in the list box is simply the directory and sub directory of the folders they will be using and can help them understand what they need to do:

    For example:

Item Item Description Sub item Sub Item Description
Task 1 Complete form 1 Task 1.1 Complete form 1.1
Task 2 Complete task 2 Task 2.1 Complete form 2.1
    Task 2.2 Complete Chart 2.2

There are several buttons pre seeding this table that values change when clicked. (I.e 'view Primary task list 1, View task list 2...)

For example: There are 5 main tasks all with sub tasks. Some sub tasks can be extensive (i.e up to 2.8 or 2.9) others are not)

    So the list changes

My final actions is I have a final control button that when a line item in the list box is selected (the windows blue highlight) to want the user to click that button and the following happen:

Go to the file location, check that the file name is present (this will be the same as Task 1.1, Task 1.2 etc) and if so, highlight the selected line only green. If not Highlight in Red

Failing that, would it be possible to search the directory and sub directories and populate a list of file names in the list box to show the GAPs??

Does this make Sense? And is this possible?
I think it should be because I have managed to change a picture depending on the line selected in another list box but the values do not change. Equally I have never done a 'go and find' sort of function

Let me know if this is clear or just talking rubbish..

    Thanks for all your help

    regards

No. You can't have colors in a listbox.

Failing that, would it be possible to search the directory and sub directories and populate a list of file names in the list box to show the GAPs??

What is the correlation between a task being complete and the file directory?
