Macro Sql loading problem

hi all
i've been writing a marco which pull out the data in the ODBC as the first step, and then do some pivot table, copy and paste later
but i don;t know why the sql always update after all the marco is done.
even i do like " run the sql , refresh , wait 30s , do the rest"
is there rules that sql is only can be excuted after all marco is done?
can some one help me cause i've beeen suck on this a long time,,,,
