Solver-Compile error

Hello,

I'm having an issue running the solver add-in for excel. I spent about 3 hours on the phone with Microsoft for them to ultimately tell me that they have no idea what to do. Therefore, I thought there's no one better to ask than the geniuses on this site!

The specific error I am getting after trying to run solver is "Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications" in title of error box. In the main portion of the box it reads: "Compile error in hidden module: SolverCode. This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with version, platform, or architecture of this application".

It doesn't even work in a completely blank worksheet so the data has no effect what so ever.

I'm trying to access the code for solver within VBA but it is asking for a password to access it, If that is even the correct way to go about this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think there is enough information for us to suggest anything. Can you post the relevant code, perhaps even upload that blank worksheet that you tried the code in would give us a simple idea of what you are trying to do.

I can't get into the code, There's a password like I mentioned. What's the point of posting a blank document, its blank.

I cannot recreate the problem here. Excel/VBA seem to access Solver just fine. Posting your code, even in a blank document, would allow us to see how you are trying to access Solver through VBA, be able to test those statements, and suggest alternatives.

I might suggest a tutorial like this, http://peltiertech.com/Excel/SolverVBA.html that describes the basics of accessing Solver through VBA. Does that help?

Is it possible that your Solver add-in has been corrupted? Perhaps try unistalling/reinstalling Solver.

Beyond those basic things, I'm not sure what to suggest without more specific information.
