    Screen Element Sizes

How can I find the height and width of the various Excel screen elements?

I imagine that each could be tracked down through diverse disparate sources, using the window handle and the device context through various APIs, but is there a single place, or a single structure that can be retrieved, that holds a collection of the dimensions of everything, such as the Title Bar, the Ribbon, the Formula Bar, the Column Headings, the Scroll Bars, the Status Bar, etc?

Never mind. I worked out how to find them all myself.

    Re: Screen Element Sizes

I would, Orrin, but I haven't finished yet. I am in the process of writing an object class that will provide the single place and single structure that I talked about in my original post; an object from which any of the screen element sizes can be retrieved in any of the units (inches, cm, mm, pixels, points, twips — can you think of any more?) that designers use.

I have thought about writing a book on VBA coding and of useful routines, but there are already so many books; or a website, but again there are so many websites too.

I used to be a full time programmer (in other languages). Nowadays I am better described as a data analyst (SQL hardly counts as coding) but coding is still my hobby. My problem is that the time taken to write a book or maintain a website would take away from the time I have to indulge in coding these fun and useful routines.

    Hi Floyd,

You could set aside some useful routines in a file, then, after you have accumulated enough for a book, organize them in sections and chapters.

I'm doing what will be my second book that way
