    count ifs with partial match

Ok, I'll try it again. editing does delete also your original post
    Once again:

I would like to count cells with two different criteria:

    1. If you find the letter from row (a, c, e, a, e) in the column (a, b, c, ab, ca)
    2. and values (random) are above the threshold (2), then count

It works fine within the first 3 rows (2 times an a with value above 2, no b above 2 etc.), but as soon as I wanna search partial in cell (a b) it does not count anymore.

    What I got so far:

Re: count ifs with partial match

Jep, its countifs in german, once installed Excel in german, hard to change it afterwards....

In the meanwhile, I realised my mistake in the formula. The criteria range consist of "single" entries (a etc), whereas the criteria (C13) contains "multiple" entries (a b). So it make sense, that Excel does not find the multi entries within the single entries of the criteria range.

So the question would be, if its possible the "split up" the "multi" criteria (a b) into a "single" query? Meaning that Excel searches also for parts of the multiple criteria (also for a, instead of a b, within the a b cell) within the criteria range?

Hope to have expressed myself clear enough for understanding.

    Thanks for the reply!
