Adding a Password to Hyperlink button

    Dear All,

I need help with hyperlink button and the possibility of linking a password to it.

    1. I have a workbook with two worksheets namely: INVOICE and PRODUCTS, respectively.

    2. The 'Invoice' worksheet has a hyperlink which, when clicked takes a user to the 'Products' worksheet. Also the 'Products' sheet has a hyperlink that takes a user back to the 'Invoice' sheet.

3, When the file is initially opened, it is the Invoice sheet that shows. There is a small code that hides the other sheet when each of them is opened. And when the Invoice Sheet is opened, and the hyperlink on it is clicked, that action automatically activates the 'Products' sheet and take the user to the Products Sheet.

    4. However, we only want the Administrator and a few other authorized users to have access to both the 'Invoice' and 'Products' sheets. Other users are allowed to access and use the 'Invoice' sheet but not the 'Products' sheet.

    5. As indicated above, each of the sheets has a hyperlink link to each other.

    6. If it is possible, we want to attach a password requirement to the hyperlink button on the Invoice sheet that should take a user to the Products sheet. That is, if the hyperlink is clicked, it would ask for a password before being activated.

    7. We would very much like to achieve this. However, if this is not possible, we would appreciate a suggestion of another solution or approach that will enable us to achieve the same result of ensuring that to go from the Invoice Sheet to the Products sheet would require entering a password.

I'll appreciate help with this, please.

    Buddy

Re: Adding a Password to Hyperlink button

    Hello Buddy8,

As much as I would like to help you, it would be impossible for me without a sample Workbook.

We would need to setup user access controls with passwords, and it also could mean losing the hyperlinks, to gain access to other sheets via other controls.

Please attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window (or use the paperclip icon).

    Regards.

Re: Adding a Password to Hyperlink button

Thanks Winon for your prompt and kind response to my thread. I am grateful.

As you requested, I have attached a sample file. As I indicated earlier, there are just two worksheets. I was hoping that whenever the file is opened, it is only the Invoice Sheet that automatically shows up while the Products sheet is hidden. Thereafter, if a user who is authorised to access the Products sheet wishes to do so, he/she will click on a hyperlink button or may be a command button, and upon entering a password, the Products sheet will be activated and the hyperlink or button will take the user to the Products Sheet while hiding the Invoice Sheet.

There will also be a hyperlink button or a command button on the Products sheet which, when clicked, will activate the Invoice sheet, take the user back on the Invoice Sheet and hide the Products Sheet.

I hope that my explanation and the sample file will assist you to help me.

    Thanks.

    Buddy

Re: Adding a Password to Hyperlink button

    Hello Buddy8,

Sorry for taking so long getting back to you.

I have assumed that a case might arise where you may have to invoice a client on say three partial deliveries, if not all at once.

In the attached sample Workbook, you have three access levels contained in Sheet 3. Level "All " allows for access to all functions, including setting up, or changing of Passwords as well as access levels.

Please try the attached sample Workbook to see if that is what you require.

Your username to log-in is GW, and the password is buddy. Please note that these entries are not Case Sensitive, but we could change that if you want.

    Kind Regards.
