    Table column move

I have posted this in 'General' but had no replies so I am trying this section, apologises if this is wrong!
    http:///http://www.excelforum.com/sh...t=#post4411526

I have a large Excel table (Excel 2013) and want to reverse the order of two adjacent columns of numbers.
I have tried to drag and drop but it does not work.
I have tried creating a new empty column and copy and pasting into it but this creates a new column header and this could cause problems with subsequent worksheets with pivot tables that reference it.
I have had quick google but haven't found a useful answer.

Can anyone give me a solution please?

    Re: Table column move

    1. Select the entire column
    2. Right-click and select CUT
    3. Go to where you want it and select Insert Copied
That way it moves it and anything referring to this column in formula's will be updated, unless you use VBA and have hard-code references, the n you will need to change thes too.

    Thanks for your reply.
    That idea creates an error.

True, my mistake, that causes an error because it's a table.
Then my follwoing action would be to record a macro to do that which (and I am just typing this without checking it)
    1. select the table, select where you want the column to come
    2. Select Insert Column (either left or right of selection)
    3. select the column to move and selct copy
    4. Selct the new column and paste
    4. Delete the 'old' column

    Re: Table column move

Thanks for your suggestion. I had tried doing this from the keyboard, ie not with a Macro, and it does work but renames the moved column 'Name2'.
The linked Pivot Tables update to use 'Name2' but 'Name' is still listed!
    Just seems abit clumsy.
The only way I have found that seems to work is to convert the Table to a Worksheet, move the column and then convert back to a Table.
I am checking the result and so far I have not found any corruption in the result.

That's what I said, you have to delete the old row and give the new one the correct name.
