    Label on a Trendline??

This may be in the wrong spot but I need help fast. So I have a nice trendline on a graph and I want to label it. I could add a text box above the line but then when the trendline changes I will have to move the text box every time. Is there any way to have the label follow the trendline?

    Hi,

if you rightmouse the trendline, Format Trendline, Options, Custom, you can add the name to the Legend.

But I don't want it there...

I have a client that wants the labels at the end or on top of the trendlines. We send them their charts in black and white so the legend only works if I do a patterned lines for the different trendlines. And lets face it, patterned lines are ugly. However, if they can't be labeled that way then I will just have to pass the burden of bad news. Thank for your help.

    Hi,

thank you for your PM which arrived at 3:24AM. but to "pass the burden of bad news" should perhaps be "the burden of passing the bad news"

apart from the Excel Chart Labeller at http://www.appspro.com/Utilities/Utilities.htm I am not aware of any other option.

    Re: Label on a Trendline??

    Hi there

So this is super old, but for anyone curious about a way to do this, I think I have a workable solution

You can select a single data point in your series and add a label to that specific point.
Then you can change the text in the label to whatever you want - like a trendline label!
The label will follow the data point wherever it goes, and won't overwrite your custom text.
You should even be able to format the text and text box.

    Happy labeling
