Selecting data from different named sources?

Hi,

Very new to VBA and i'm wondering if it's possible to create a code that will open up another spreadsheet, perform a basic VLOOKUP to give the info i'm after then close the sheet.

I have my sheet which has tabs for each month, and what i'd like is for a macro to open the correct s/sheet for this tab (the correct sheets are named by month date), then perform a lookup and provide me with the data i need, then close the just opened sheet.

E.G.

In my s/sheet on the July tab - i'd like to click a macro button, have it then open the July dated spreadsheet, perform a lookup (think i can do that part myself), then close the July dated sheet. Then when i open the August dated tab, repeat the exercise (but have the macro open the August dated sheet), and go from there.

Is something like this possible?
