A chart may have only have up to 256 series - Solutions

Hello Experts,

I am struggling with a limitation in Excel and trying to find some solutions / workarounds.

Let me explain you what I try to do.

I have an excel sheet that has 3 columns; Report Name, X-Axis and Y-Axis.

When I click the button Scatter Chart, ScatterChart VBA function is triggered and I create a scatter chart by using Report Name, X-Axis and Y-Axis values.

When I hover over each dots, I should see the name of the report with its X-Axis and Y-Axis values. ScatterChart VBA functions works well for this functionality.

However, I get an error message "A chart may have only have up to 256 series" when I have more than 256 reports.

I had to create NewSeries for each reports because I had to assign each report names as series names.

Could you please help me to find a solution for this issue? (I understand that we can have 256 series at most in Excel. This is a limitation. However, there should be a solution for this)

Thank you for your response. I have already seen this post before. However, we need to give different report names in each dots. What I understand from the post you sent me is that there are three series that are blue, orange and gray.

I would like to have different series names.

I hope I can find my solution in this forum.
