Question Conditional Formatting with a formula's result

in C2 i have the below formula which pulls the sheets name (a date) and inserts it into the cell. Example "01-01-17"

Please Login or Register to view this content.
I want the above cell (C1) to display the day of the date that is in cell C2 (example "Thursday")

When i enter "=C2" into cell "C1" the date enters correctly. When i then try to format the cell or use conditional formatting to make the date display as a day (ddd) it doesn't work. It just keeps displaying the date.

    Any ideas?

This works on your sample sheet in C1:

    =TEXT(C2,"dddd")
