I would like to scan a badge and have the date imported as a name

So, what you're saying is.....

1) scan a badge and get the ref number.
2) check that ref number against a list of ref numbers and if found, log the name, title, access level and timestamp on another sheet
3) If not found then display an input box for the user to enter the name, title and access level and then add that to the list. Repeat step 2.

You'll need 3 worksheets.

The first is your list of badge numbers and associated data.
The second is your logging sheet.
The third is your data input sheet....or if you're feeling fancy you could put this on a userform instead. But since it sounds like you're new to VBA I'd stick to simple for now.


Have a look at the top of this forum, there's a thread with lots of links for those new to VBA. You'll need a basic grounding in order to do this.
