Unlock a cell for formatting

Hello all

I have a workbook that was given to me by another forum member that is way over my understanding of the VBA code. With the entire sheet unprotected one cell remains locked such that I cannot change the formatting, which I want to do. I've searched the forum and found many posts on how to lock it, but not unlock it.

My guess is that it's in the code somewhere and I'm not recognizing it. Maybe if someone were to show me what this may look like in code I can then find it?

Thank You

The code is probably in the worksheet's code module.
Right-click on the sheet tab and select View Code from the pop-up context menu.
Surround your VBA code with CODE tags e.g.;
your VBA code here
The # button in the forum editor will apply CODE tags around your selected text.

AlphaFrog

I looked at that and the ThisWorkbook code, both are blank.

This may or may not be relevant, but while learning a little MS Access I recall something about being able to save the database with specific locks in place that can then only be changed by holding one of the operator keys (Alt, Shift, Ctrl...). Not sure if something like that is available in Excel?

Thank you for the help

What VBA code?

What exactly happens when you try? Can you select the cell? Does it undo your formatting, or just ignore any changes, or are the formatting menus disabled?

With the cell selected and either right-clicking and Format Cells or, using the Number Formatting /"More number formats" does nothing. The formatting dialog box doesn't display.
Oddly it's the only cell in the worksheet that acts this way.

Perhaps there is a white image or a textbox over the cell? Just a guess.

Can you select a range of cells that includes the one cell and change the formatting?

...to avoid us all guessing would you upload the workbook so that we may see your request in context and tell us which is the cell in question.

Re: Unlock a cell for formatting

Tried selecting a range, both by row and by column. Anytime that cell is included formatting options are not available.

I've attached the workbook for a better understanding. The cell in question is M3 on the Cutting sheet. To run the program, click on the Calculate DP button.

A couple of notes here:
As I mentioned, this workbook was provided by another member, and as you will see it's in Russian. I've translated most of the controls by not all.
There is an About Form that I've not changed but have translated. I have sent an email to the address given to verify using this program is not violating
any rights or laws. Haven't heard anything.

If I find that it is protected, I will destroy the workbook. There was a lot of work put into this, I don't want to misuse it.

Re: Unlock a cell for formatting

I can see the problem. It affects cells K2:O3

It's not the code. I disabled all macros and the problem persists.

I'm not sure what the issue is. Probably a currupt file. This site suggests to save the workbook as .HTML and close it. Then reload the html file. I tried that and it fixed the problem.

Re: Unlock a cell for formatting

Interesting. I thought I had changed some of those cells earlier, maybe not. Or, this issue is progressing.

I will try the process as you point out, the articale also mentions cleaning out unused formats which may also help, there are a lot of custom styles and number formats not used.

As always I will do all this on a copy.

Thank you so much.

Re: Unlock a cell for formatting

Perhaps it is Conditional Formatting and not normal format at all? Check conditional formats for that worksheet.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.
