Calculate weight

I wanted to calculate the pull weight of a rolling gate, up an incline. I'm Not Sure excel can do it.
I have the gate weight (265 kg) but wanted to work out the weight it is going up a slope.
I know the slope is 40mm over 4 meters.

Does anyone know the maths for this?

well, that's not exactly excel related question :-)

It has been too long since I have done these. As I recall, the first step in almost any physics problem like this is to start by drawing out a force diagram. I don't know which are good and which are bad, but I put something like inclined plane force analysis and got several hits.

It is not clear to me exactly what your force diagram should look like, but I suspect that the math and programming should be fairly straightforward once you work out the force expressions for this.

One note -- I suspect that you will need some trig functions along the way -- remember that Excel's trig functions, like all other programming languages, does trig in radians and not degrees.
