    Pulling values from another workbook without opening

    I need to search a closed workbook for a number and copy the adjacent value to be used in VBA. I have spent quite a few hours googling trying to find a solution but have not been successful. I have read some stuff on ExecuteExcel4Macro but am not sure how to use it properly.

    source to pull from - Z:\Test\Source.xlsm sheet1 A1
    i need to be able to use the value I find in VBA

    Does anyone know where to start with this?

    Please, upload sample file that accurately reflect your set up along with what info needs to be pulled.

    This could be done by using ADO through VBA, among other methods.
