    Hi,

Are you sure that the file is actually in xlsx format and not .xls for example?

    Good afternoon koshish

Whether you can or can't restore this file, you need to consider some kind of backup exercise for your files.

Your profile indicates you have XL2007 - I'm not sure if this functionality is available on that version, but in later versions you can go to open the file, but the "Open" button in the file selection pane has a dropdown arrow. Click on the arrow and one of the options is to Open and Repair. Try that.

Beyond that, there are some links in this thread that may be of use. For the main one, you need to be able to open the file, which won't be any good in your case, but work through the others and see how you go.

    Regards

    Hi Koshish,

This error can occur when you try to open a file created by another user or device. (Hence leading to a different version or file extensions)

You can fix this by changing the Excel File Permissions.

The objective of doing this is to provide you with all the permissions for the file:
    1. Right-click on that excel file > properties
    2. Go to the security tab and click on "edit"
    3. when the permissions dialog box opens, click on "add"
    4. Click on Advanced > Find Now
    5. Under the search results, scroll down to "Everyone" and click on OK
You will see the "everyone" in the Textbox
    6. Click on Ok again (and you will return back to the permissions dialog box)
    7. Under Group or User names, select "Everyone" and check all the boxes under "Allow"
    8. Click on Apply and then OK

Now try opening your excel file. I hope this will fix it.

    Best Regards.
