How to update a group of cells based on a value in another

    Hi

I have a spreadsheet that I update on a weekly basis. I would like to update the relevant cells for a particular week based on the value that I input once that carries over to all sheets. As per the inserted image, cell B3 contains the value that is input on one sheet and carries over to all affected sheets. Based on B3, I'd like to have the values from B4-B6 carried over to the relevant CW column in the table to the RH. These values are for a week on week graph that appears above. Lastly, I would also like for the previous week (CW42 in this case) to keep its data from the previous week and not be cleared. I hope that it would be possible as there are about 20 sheets that I have to update like this weekly, it would make my life a whole lot easier if this was more automated.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

Re: How to update a group of cells based on a value in another

    Hi

Based on the recommendations by AliGW, I have added the attachment. If the attachment is opened, there are three sheets. The cell B3 on sheets 'Company X' and 'Company Y' is updated from data that will be entered manually in 'Sheet 3' E1. The source of the values in cells B4-B6 in the Company sheets is of no consequence here because this pulls from an already working source. Based on the value stored in B3 on the Companys sheets, I would like the relevant column (in this case row AY) updated with the values contained in row B, i.e., B4 will pull through to AY4, B5 will pull through to AY5, B6 will pull through to AY6. I also do not want the previous weeks data affected when the value of B3 changes weekly, i.e., it should keep a running record for the graph above. I hope that this is clear, any assistance is appreciated.

As I suspected - this can't be done just with formulae. You'll need VBA, so I'll move the thread to that section.

That cannot be done using a formula. You will need VBA. This thread should be moved to the VBA sub-forum, where someone will sort you out...
