Re: How many blocks in ascending order are possible in sequences of 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 .

A1 is the max value in the sequence.

=SUM(A1-{1,2,3,4,5,6,7})
Surround your VBA code with CODE tags e.g.;
your VBA code here
The # button in the forum editor will apply CODE tags around your selected text.

NO!!!! You must provide a sample sheet. It is NOT for those helping you to do this.

Please remember that those who help here do so voluntarily and of their own goodwill. They live in many different time zones and many will be out at work right now if they are not asleep on the other side of the globe. This is not a paid 'service': members will help when they are ready and able to do so, and not 'on demand'. Please do not try to put pressure of time on anyone here: if you get the help you need today, that's fine, but you really should not count on it. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

I have no idea what your sheet is suppose to represent or what additional information you're asking for. The formula I gave you counts the the number of "sequences" that you described. What else do you want?

Re: How many blocks in ascending order are possible in sequences of 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 .

If I understand correctly try the following:
1) put the number of elements (25) in cell A1,
2) put the block size (2,3,4...) in cell A2,
3) the number of blocks can be calculated using the following formula: =A1-A2+1

I feel like post #15 was pretty specific as to how to set up a spreadsheet, however here is the attachment as requested.

Re: How many blocks in ascending order are possible in sequences of 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 .

Ok, I think that I understand.
After filling the first cell with the number 1 the following formulas are used:
1) For the rest of the first column: =IF(B5<A$3,B5+1,"")
2) For the remainder of each row: =IFERROR(IF($A$2>COUNT($B5:B5),B5+1,""),"")
Let us know if you have any questions.

Ok almost there
* Has split into groups
* 2 out of 3 in 4 on 5 on 6 on 7
An example of the group of 6
01 02 03 04 05 06
02 03 04 05 06 07
03 04 ....
