    Sheet blocked by macro

My macro sometimes goes wrong. Then I try deleting the whole sheet contents and this happens:
    - The contents gets deleted all right; but
    - the sheet remains all selected (darkened) and blocked, and
    - the headings of rows and columns all disappear, as do the cell-contour lines;
    - the cell address display (top left corner) says that the cursor has moved to the very bottom of the sheet.
    The appearence is this
    Screen-Error.JPG

    insted of the usual
    Screen-Correct.JPG

What can have gone wrong, and how can I restore normality?
    Thanks for any help.

    Re: Sheet blocked by macro

Any clues on what the macro looks like... or shall we just guess?

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

    Thanks for attempting to help.
The macro in fact does a lot of different things, among them filtering data.
Sorry I cannot offer further assistance.

    Re: Sheet blocked by macro

Giving us vague input about the problem will at best get you vague responses.

If your macro turns off screen updating and fails before turning it back on (on never turns it back on) that could cause strange visual behavior.

Your macro could potentially be corrupting the file and the result is the behavior you see.

The file could be corrupt regardless of macro and manifests in this way.

The macro could run any number of commands to hide many elements of the interface within the workbook.

It could be a bug specific to your environment causing something to not work based on how it was coded that clashes with your version of Excel, OS or third party software

It could be an addin or a bad template

    etc
Ways to get help: Post clear questions, explain your overall goal, supply as much background as possible, respond to questions asked of you by those trying to help and post sample(s) files.

I've unsubscribed from this thread due to apathectic attidtude of the OP.
With 159 posts to your name I would have expected something a bit more specific than "I've written a macro, it doesn't work properly, what's wrong with it"

    Re: Sheet blocked by macro

Thank you, Zer0Coll. In fact the macro itself performs all its functions well throughout. It's when attempt to do further work on that sheet that I find it behaves in a faulty way.

And thank you, Special-K. I understand you find I'm not giving clues that are specific enough. All I can say is that it's not because I feel apathetic about it; it's that I don't see what I may offer that can be useful. But you're right to leave me and devote your efforts and skills to more productive queries. Thanks for your two replies.
