Question Change xlExcelLinks bypass selection dialog

    Hi,

I am trying to update a workbook with a new link to a different workbook. I have some code that will do it. But it opens a file dialog/file picker for me to navigate to the folder and select the file. Additionally I have to keep selecting the file over and over again.

How can I bypass the file picker and just do it all with VBA?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello xlBunny,

Are the files you want to open in the same folder as the Active Workbook you are working on?

Re: Change xlExcelLinks bypass selection dialog

    Hi,

No they are not in the same folder.

Let me try to explain a little better. I have a workbook with some formulas pointing to data in another workbook (not in the same folder). I want to change the link source for the formulas to a different workbook (each of the link sources (old and new) are in different folders too).

How could I do this without user intervention? Even if I had to do it a different way. I am up for that too. Just need to get it done. Thanks!

Re: Change xlExcelLinks bypass selection dialog

Wait just realized the was a typo in my file name. Maybe that is why I am having a problem (with trying to bypass the file picker). Anyway I have to run out now. When I get back I will see if the fix gives me my desired results.

Just wanted to let anyone willing to help me out here know not to waste your brain cells just yet because I might have figured it out.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Yup, with the correct file path I don't get the file picker anymore. And I am switching links with no problem. I knew it should have been easy. Great refresher lesson.

    Thanks,

SideNote: I stumbled onto my solution looking at this thread. @AlphaFrog to the rescue (again). Thanks to everyone for the years of sharing. Special thanks to you too @Winon. I have used some of your old post to help get myself out of a jam or two. Thanks for the willingness to step in here and give me a hand.
