Insert character and specify font, based on font at cursor location

I have a macro which takes the selected cells, puts them in a form, and has the ability to insert the character "#" at the cursor location.
This works but I need an additional functionality: The font of the inserted character "#" should be based on the font at the cursor location. See table below. For example, if the font at the cursor location is Forte, the inserted character font is Monotype Corsiva.
At the moment, the font of the newly inserted character is the same as the previous character.
