I've got an AWS database which I can easily connect to using a utility like MySql Workbench. To connect, it requires the the host address, username, and password. I also use the name of the database itself to name the connection.
Excel doesn't have these options. The method I'm attempting is to: "Get Data" then "From Database" then "From MySql Database."
An input window appears which has two fields: "Server" and "Database." There's an "Advanced Options" section with a text box where I could enter a SQL statement but I have no idea how to write these or if one would be useful.
So... after entering the Server and Database fields I'll attempt to connect and get an error message which reads:
I triple-check to make sure that all of the fields are correct and that there are no inadvertent blank spaces. (I use ctrl C and V directly from aws. This works for the utility I mentioned above).
Excel doesn't ask me to enter a password. When I check to see if perhaps I had used this connection before and there's an artifact bugging up the connection, I can find no prior connections.
Does anyone know where Excel stores the MySQL passwords? Or have other advice? Thank You.
