how to get my public var to keep the presets

i have the following code that doesn't work. im looking for a reason why? what am i doing wrong.

for some reason, the code for who_player is always 1 and it never increments?

Player is 0 so who_dealer resets to 1

Assuming you ran the players routine first, and that it's in a normal module in the same workbook, what is the value of player? As soon as who_dealer exceeds that value, it gets reset to one, so I believe player is less than 2.
