What's an easier export, html or pdf

    Hiya,

    Sorry if this is vague.

I've been asked to take a PDF document, import to excel, add formatting then output again to pdf. Importing data from different file types other than excel is new to me and from my research about copying from pdf I have my concerns. Mainly that you need to apply a delay to allow before the sendkeys. My work servers aren't always consistent and this seems open to problems if the file take an inconsistent time to load.

It was dropped in conversation that the reports started as html outputs but they had done various things to get them to automatically output as pdf.

My question is, before I spend time on a potentially inefficient process for pulling from a pdf is it any more efficient/controllable if I could pull from the original html output?

    Thanks in advance.

    Tim

I haven't done HTML imports in a while, but I'd imagine it's vastly easier to do than trying to rely on a PDF import and SendKeys. As long as the HTML data is organized (preferably in tables) then it's reasonably straightforward to import using a macro. (There's numerous examples of how to pull web data into Excel either on this forum or through Google.)

Thanks for your reply. That's really useful. I'll investigate the html route.
