Smile Excel file I am trying to access 'locked for editing' - can I bypass this?

    Hello!

I have an excel macro that accesses 3 different workbooks within it. One of them has the potential to be locked for editing quite often, so I was wondering if there was a way to write the code such that this step is skipped if the workbook is locked for editing instead of saving some copy of the workbook every single time.

This is currently what is being locked for editing

Can I add some sort of IF statement or something saying if I click cancel if it is locked for editing that it will skip this and go on to the rest of code?
any help is greatly appreciated thank you!

Perhaps this Function and macro code from Microsoft will work...

Here is a piece of code from my "work bench."

I did not write this code. I stole it. I don't know from where, so I can't make attribution.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
