    Sum after last row once data is pasted

    Hi,

    Is it possible to autosum a column after the data is pasted from elsewhere?

    I'm thinking vba lastrow but maybe this is possible with a formula.

    Either way I'm not sure how to do this when the data isn't there, the data is pasted manually and the length of data can/will vary.

    Why do you need VBA.

    Just create a dynamic range name that will expand or contract in response to the size of the data you paste and then use the name in a bog standard SUM formula

    e.g. =SUM(MyRangeName)

    @daboho

    This works but I need to run the macro each time for it to show total?

    @Richard Buttrey

    The idea of asking for help is because I don't know how to do it, I know how to do a bog standard sum but how would it know to display in the cell after the last row?

    Hi ~TaC~,

    Could something like this work for you if the dynamic named range won't work.

    How would I adapt that to just sum column E starting at E5? And would it auto run as soon as data is paste in to sheet?

    Does it really need to be in the cell underneath the last item?
    Surely the days of totals at the bottom of a list went out of fashion after we ditched pencil and paper and went digital.

    The best place for totals is in a fixed cell above the data. If it needs to be visible all the time then either set a freeze pane underneath the total, or an often forgotten - (or never known way) is to use the camera tool and take a shot of the total cell then move the camera image to wherever you want.
