I want to organise my crewing as optimal as possible.

Right, so i'm not sure if this is possible or not. So I thought's i'd ask instead of wasting my time trying to do something that might never work.

I'm build a crewing tool and want to have a VBA that does most of the leg work. I will have a column of names and row of lines and at each of these the people will have a score (how good they are on a line)

I will input what is running which then tells me how many people each line needs and a perfect score needed to run that line.

I'd like my VBA to then look at the list of names and scores and move them to lines so that i have the optimal people on each line so that they are all crewed to a similar level.

    Is this possible?

    Regards

I don't see why not. Could you attach a workbook so we could take a closer look?

Resource allocation algorithms have long been something that computer scientists have studied and developed. Most of these algorithms can be performed in Excel. From and internet search for "resource allocation algorithm in Excel" I found:

Using Solver. comes with a sample filehttps://www.exceldemy.com/allocating-resources-in-excel-using-solver/
visualization and links to a second page to talk about creating with sample files: https://www.exceldemy.com/allocating...-using-solver/
to round out the first three results my search engine returned: https://www.exceldemy.com/allocating...-using-solver/

    Some of those may help.

The uploaded file is about setting up a racing team where the team has the highest skill level in three different areas. To see the result you need to run solver.

Solver is not installed by default when you install Excel so you if don't see "Solver" under the "Data" tab you must install it.

As the file contains the solver setup you then just click solver and in the "Solver Parameter" popup click the "Solve" button.

Ooops My Bad Previous uploaded file contained a locked formula in range E12:G12. This is fixed in this upload of the file.
