    New to VBA - how to parse a markup language text

    I'm new to VBA for excel programming, trying to parse the following
    "<"tag1">"
    "<"tag2">"
    "<"tag3">"
    text_1="string1"
    "</"tag3">"
    "<"tag4">"
    text_2="string2"
    "</"tag4">"
    "</"tag2">"
    "</"tag1">"
    it is just a text and not a xml or html.
    how can i also pack all the information in a tree structure? and then in an excel worksheet.
    Thanks!
