Yesterday this macro worked flawlessly. Today, without making any changes to it, Excel is saying it has an 'Invalid procedure call or Argument .... Runtime Error 5'

I cannot replicate the error.

I copied the code and placed it in a blank workbook, and it worked fine. How can we replicate the error?

I'm not certain how the error might be replicated.

I've gone through the process of 'repairing' Windows .. repairing MS Office.

Everything, this project and others, that involved printing to PDF no longer work.


Suggestions ?

Still the same error message.


I'm presently checking for virus.

After that, I'll attempt to re-build the workbook one sheet at a time and the modules as well.


And, if that doesn't work .. guess I'll need to re-install Win10 and then MS Office.

If you close all other workbooks, including Add-ins & personal.xlsb, do you still get the same problem?

All other workbooks closed.

No Add-ins.

Still same issue.



I am suspicious that the system itself may have an issue / s. By system I mean the computer.
In recent months (2 months) I've had to do a complete reset / reload of Win 10 and all software.
I haven't been able to put my finger on what is causing the issue requiring a complete reset.

I've run tests on the monitor, the hard drive and the overall system itself. Have not discovered any
anomalies as a result.

The computer itself is only a year old. And even tho technology marches own and waits for no one, the
computer itself is not old enough to trash it.

When I last reloaded the system and software, I turned off the Win 10 updates for fear some of the updates
were the cause.

Does anyone know if the original version of Win 10 64 bit has issued with Excel ?

Well ... I went through all the steps available and finally had to uninstall / reinstall Office .

While searching the 'net for assistance I found an add-in from MS for Excel 2007 re: PDF files. I loaded that as well.
Not certain if the add-in made the difference but it couldn't hurt ?

In any case, I have the project running again although I had to correct a number of the Command Button macro assignments
and in a few instances had to copy code to Notepad then paste the code back to the Sheet Module or Regular Module.

At this time everything works. In the morning I may open the case to the computer and spray it with Gremlin Pesticide as well
as place a few "sticky traps" on the inside. One way or the other I am determined to rid my system of those critters.

Hi, I got the same error when I sent a file I made with Excel 365 to an Excel 2013 user.

I never got it to work for Excel 2013 user so I just removed the part with format.

About the error in Post#8. You get that when there's a missing reference (usually something like Common Controls), did you check that ?
