    Is it safe or ideal to use Microsoft Access as a Database for 15 employees?

    Experts, I need your input on weather it is wise to use Access as a database from Excel to Access. I have written some code using a DAO connection which I have found is quicker to upload data from Excel to Access and vise versa, the code is working great so far. Here is my setup at work;

    Network Drive Hosts Access Database, 15 users will be extracting the data from Access using Excel, those same users will then upload new data using Excel back to Access. Does this trigger any performance issues since there will be multiple people writing to the Access file? I cannot use a MySQL database since i am limited on resources at work.

    I don't understand the question. If you have a working system accessing Access data from Excel, then that should pretty much be the answer. Unless you have some specific issue that has cropped up, retrieving data from and entering data to an external database is a pretty common practice. Access provides a lot of features that are not available in Excel and vice versa. So by linking the two you have the best of two worlds.
    Any code provided by me should be tested on a copy or a mock up of your original data before applying it to the original. Some events in VBA cannot be reversed with the undo facility in Excel. .
    And always keep in mind that using EXCEL only for more than one person to access the primary workbook is nearly impossible without work arounds. So using ACCESS in conjunction with Excel, as you have already demonstrated, is definitely
    the way to go, if not using only ACCESS.

    I agree with JLGWhiz .... stay where you are with your present setup if it is working now. Don't change something that isn't broke.

    Yes it is safe, I've been using this method for almost 2 years now. No issues so far.

    This 15 people will not experience any problem (not unless your network connection crashed).
