Question Best way to save backup of network shared project

    Hi,

So I have a project that's used by a dozen+ people on a shared network. Recently it somehow got saved in a corrupt state, refused to load or open, but I don't know how or why.
What would be the best way to manage such a scenario to:
    A. Possibly prevent or minimise this from happening in the first place. ie What sort of error checking should be used while saving?
    B. Backup management. I'm looking at saving a local copy to users documents or similar &/or even on the network itself (network backup may be problematic, not sure yet). Versioning or similar is not an option as only single user editing at a time is an option. EDIT: do the autosave & autorecover options work over networks?

Trying to manage this so that if an issue happens again I don't need to be relied upon to deal with it & that anyone can look after it by uploading last local backup or using network backup.

    Open to any suggestions.

    Thanks.

Re: Best way to save backup of network shared project

I would suggest to copy paste the formulas with only value options, which will reduce the file size of the shared excel to a great extent. Once the file size gets reduced, try to copy all the data not the worksheets to another excel file and then try to share the new file. As files with higher mb gets time to open and saved on a network, and many times it happens that if one user opens it another user also tries to open it if the network is slow, the file gets hanged and Not Responding message comes which takes time and irritates the user and chances are there that files also gets corrupted often.

Yes auto save and auto recover options work on shared files on network.
