I have spent the past several hours trying to figure out how to allow sorting columns in a protected worksheet. I found the following code online, but it does not allow me to sort the columns. I have also checked "Sort" and "Use AutoFilter" prior to protecting the worksheet. "Call Open_Work" is a macro not associated.

Did you check that the cells to be sorted are unlocked ?

Avoid using Select, Selection and Activate in your code. Use With ... End With instead.

Thank you for your reply. Your code allows the columns to be filtered, but not sorted.
I'm not sure what you mean by "check that the cells to be sorted are unlocked ?"

Not sure what I was thinking about regarding the "unlocked" cells. Yes the cells within the column are locked.
You cannot sort locked cells.

After spending most of yesterday searching the web and trying different macros, that is what I discovered. I did create a macro that will unlock the worksheet, which will allow the user to perform a sort. Is there a way to assign a macro to a drop down arrow - I created another thread and awaiting replies.
