how to block input in book while saving

Hi, I have an input system that records data blindly from different workers and it auto-saves every hour.
Sadly I´m needing it to save every 5 minutes, but everytime excel is auto-saving should someone try to enter data, Excel crashes or stop saving (as it reads that as an Intro keystroke and cancel saving or worst).
So...

Is there any way to block any data input to the excel book while saving?

I have already set the saving code with VBA Application.Ontime + TimeValue and 1 script that saves, so maybe a proper code might be injected before that...

Any ideas?
